Margaret Kemmeter

Kitchen & Bath Designer

Design has always been in my blood. I grew up around it—my grandpa owned a construction company, and I was hooked from the start. I knew early on that I wanted to be part of this industry, and that passion has only grown stronger over the past 11+ years.

I started in high school through a co-op program and landed at a design firm back in 2005. That hands-on experience shaped my foundation and gave me a strong start, especially in kitchen and bath design. I’ve been designing ever since, and what I love most is bringing my clients’ visions to life—transforming their spaces into places where real memories are made.

My personal style blends mid-century modern, prairie, and organic elements, often with cozy and bold details mixed in. But more than anything, I love creating custom spaces that reflect the unique personality of each client. I’m a bit of a design shapeshifter—I can mold to fit your taste and help uncover what truly speaks to you.

When starting a project with a client, I take time to learn about your needs, your wish list, and your high-priority items. I use that as my compass as I begin shaping the floor plan and overall design. I truly believe you shouldn’t have to choose between form and function—today’s materials and innovations let us have both. Whether it’s custom storage, clever space planning, or subtle ways to hide the “functional” side of things, we’ll get it done without sacrificing beauty.

I know remodeling can feel overwhelming—it’s an investment, and there are a lot of decisions to make. That’s why I encourage clients to get really clear on what they like and dislike about their current space. Make a pros and cons list. Know your aesthetic. And from there, we’ll take the pressure off and have a little fun.

At Sims, we use cutting-edge design tools to create accurate renderings so you can visualize your space early on. I keep communication open and transparent throughout the entire process— between you, me, and the whole team—so everything runs smoothly and expectations stay aligned.

Design-wise, I’ll never get tired of dark and moody palettes, Dekton surfaces, and the magic that happens when you mix wood tones with painted finishes.
